Level 40 Retribution Paladin SoD Pre-Raid BiS For PvE

Season of Discovery Phase 2 is upon us, and naturally, we must grind our way to level 40, get into our best in slot big boy pants, and demolish the DPS meters in the new Gnomeregan raid. Following my Phase 1 bis gear article, we must now see the best gear for level 40 Paladins. Be advised the items below are subject to change as I am also on my way to forty and still discovering (that's the word of the day ain't it) what BiS items there are out there. Another useful tip is phase 1 gear options are still good well into level 30 and beyond. Some are still BiS items!

As with the previous, we will look at what is the best pure DPS gear you can go with into the new Gnomer instance without taking into consideration PvP items.

Use the button above to set Dark Mode to view some of the item names below.

Anywho, without further ado...

If you care to know what this selection of the best PvE gear might look like on your character, then click here to see it in the dressing room on Wowhead.

Note: Mograine's Might is not actually your best-in-slot, The Jackhammer is but it is extremely unrealistic to obtain as it's a random BOE from Uldaman with a 0.01% drop chance. I then further discarded other very expensive BOEs since 99% of people won't be able to get them. But getting back to our guide now...

If we take into account PvP items available in Phase 1, then we could upgrade to:

If we take into account the new PvP items with Phase 2, then we can upgrade to:

If we look at Profession-crafted items then the items below can be had:

And this is the aesthetic I'm going for as a Seal of Martyrdom-using Retribution Paladin. And by the end of Phase 2 of Season of Discovery, I hope to look like this in PvE.
