We first looked at the best-in-slot gear for Retribution Paladins regarding Player versus Environment at level 25 in the Season of Discovery Phase 1. That article is here. Now, let's check out what we should use when entering the Player versus Player scene of Classic WoW. That means Warsong Gulch but Ashenvale open-world PVP too. That is, without taking into account Blackfathom Deep stuff.
First, I will list the best-in-slot solo questing and PVP gear you can obtain while ignoring the Blackfathom Deeps drops (since this is a pre-raid-oriented list). Then, we will also take into account PVP rewards from vendors Illiyana Moonblaze (situated in Ashenvale) and Officer Areyn (from Stormwind).
Use the button above to set Dark Mode to view some of the item names below.
So without further ado...

Brawler Gloves (Hands)
Belt of the Stars (Waist)
Chausses of Westfall (Legs)
Green Iron Boots (Feet)
Verigan's Fist (Main Hand)
Brawler Gloves (Hands)
Belt of the Stars (Waist)
Chausses of Westfall (Legs)
Green Iron Boots (Feet)
Seal of Wrynn (Finger)
Silverlaine's Family Seal (Finger)
Gnomish Universal Remote (Trinket)
Minor Recombobulator (Trinket)
Why a universal remote? Well, because there is nothing else to occupy one of the trinket slots with. By the way, you can in fact equip two of them, even though they share a cooldown (the same goes for the Recombobulator). Well, not that they are very useful. Actually, not at all! But I like to have those slots filled as well so, there's that. And then, when I get the Minor Recombobulator recipe from the Wetlands I'll just vendor one of the remotes.
And this is how you could look in this best-of-the-best player vs player and outdoor questing gear set in World of Warcraft Classic SoD with the above gear options. If we take into account PVP items the following changes could occur:
Sergeant's Cloak (Back)
Private's Tabard (Tabard)
Protector's Band (Finger)
Rune of Duty (Trinket)
Insignia of the Alliance (Trinket)
If you think the BIS options from this list are way too expensive on the auction house or hard to obtain, you can click here to see how I tweaked this PVE look to fit my personal aesthetic preferences and also save on the huge auction house costs. Additionally, some cheaper or easier-to-get alternative picks are as follows:
Mantle of the Second War (Shoulder)
Glowing Green Talisman (Neck)
Cape of the Brotherhood (Back)
Fine Cloth Shirt (Shirt)
Jimmied Handcuffs (Wrist)
Thorbia's Gauntlets (Hands)
Silver-linked Footguards (Feet)
Ivory Band of the Bear (Finger)
Demon Band (Finger)
